At IAM SYSTEMS, we’re so passionate about the benefits of home automation that we created the IAM Hosting service and created our own unique, boutique hotel to showcase the technology.
Consisting of 12 beautiful modern apartments, all housed together in one of Sydney's best locations, this boutique apartment building on Crown Street, in Surry Hills provides accommodation where customers can stay and see what it's like to live in an automated environment.
The combination of modern 2 bedroom apartments as well as 3 bedroom penthouses with private rooftop spa's provides the ultimate serviced, short stay experiences as well as the ultimate demonstration environment of individual apartment control linked with entire building management.
It allows us to demonstrate not just the benefits of home automation, but complete building automation, and how this can make entire remote management of hotel and strata environments possible utilising existing systems.
Unfortunately, Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on tourism, IAM SYSTEMS had to shut down the Surry Hills Apartments in June 2021.

Technology at Surry Hills Apartments
- Each unit was pre-fitted with existing c-bus controllers that controlled all lighting, locking and blind functions in each appartment.
- IAMHOME Server configured to interface with existing c-bus units and host all devices in HomeKit, Amazon, and Google compatible devices.
- Each apartment had seperate split system a/c and heating in each bedroom and the living area. Sensibo Controllers were fitted to all a/c locations and configured in IAMHOME Controller.
- Google Home Speaker placed in each apartment could control all lighting, blinds, air-conditioning and heating in each apartment as well as music playback from a linked spotify account for each apartment.
- Building common doors including Lobby Door and Garage door where controlled using Global Cache Itach Relay Controller, configured and controlled by IAMHOME Server.
- Guests using apple devices would be sent an invite 1 hour prior to their arrival. once accepted on their phone, they would full access to all locking to get in and out of the building as well as the apartment they were staying in, as well as all lighting, blinds, climate control etc on their iphone, including ability to use siri voice commands. Upon checkout, these features would all disapear from the guests phone.
